Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Skypod ("we", "us", "our") helps people preserve photos, videos, voice notes, and messages in digital time capsules. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain language because trust is foundational to what we do.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. Name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash), and any optional profile details you provide.
  • User content. Photos, videos, voice recordings, text messages, and any other media you upload to a pod.
  • Recipient information. Names and contact details of people you designate as pod recipients or collaborators.
  • Usage information. How you interact with Skypod — pages visited, features used, and similar diagnostic data.
  • Device and technical information. Browser type, operating system, IP address, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Payment information. If you purchase a paid plan, billing details are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.

2. User content

The photos, videos, voice recordings, and messages you upload to Skypod are yours. We store them so we can deliver them to your chosen recipients on your chosen schedule. We do not sell user content, share it with advertisers, or use it to train models.

Pod contents are private to you and the recipients you designate. They are encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption.

3. Photos and videos

Photos and videos uploaded to Skypod are stored on secure cloud infrastructure. They are only accessible to the account holder, designated collaborators, and the recipients of the pod once it is delivered. We do not analyze your images or videos for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Account information

We use account information to authenticate you, communicate with you about your account, send delivery notifications, and provide customer support. We never sell account information to third parties.

5. Cookies

Skypod uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the service is used. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some parts of Skypod may not work without them.

6. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the service is used in aggregate. This helps us improve performance and prioritize new features. We do not use analytics that build personal profiles for advertising.

7. Data retention

Skypod is designed for long-term preservation. We retain pod contents for as long as your account is active and for as long as a pod has not yet been delivered. You may delete a pod or your entire account at any time, after which we will remove your data from active systems and from backups on a routine schedule.

8. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to a limited number of engineers, all of whom are subject to confidentiality obligations. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat security as a first-class part of the product and continuously invest in improving it.

9. Third-party services

Skypod uses a small number of trusted third-party providers for hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and analytics. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only on our instructions.

10. User rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your pod contents in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. Depending on your location, additional rights may apply under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

11. Children

Skypod is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the updated version here and update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notification.

13. Contact
